Timing Chain noise

I have a 2000 K1200LT with 127,000 kms. It runs well on the highway and I just rode the going to the sun road in Glacier park Mt. In the City it has a clanging sound at idle at in first and second gear? Anyone heard of this?

Does it change when you disengage the clutch?

No change at all with the clutch.

Re: Timing Chain noise

Do you here this sound while stopped or while underway? I ask because many of us have the 'cow bell syndrome' which is from the rear brake disc rattling at EVERY little crack or bump in the road at lower speeds.

I think he covered that one Scott
Ridout it depends on your definition of clanging, a timing chain rattles it doesn't clang and probably wont go away and then come back if it is indeed the problem?? hows your oil level

Re: Timing Chain noise

not sure if it's a rattle or clang but seems to be there at idle and in 1st and second gear at lower RPM's below 3000.
