As far as I know any DOT4 brake fluid will do.

Yup.. Dot 4 is better than Dot 3 but not as good as DOT 5.......

BMW calls for Dot 4,
Harley D is Dot 5

Most Cars call for DOT 3 or 4

Use DOT 4 and you can't go wrong.
DOT 3/4 is incompatible with DOT 5 and has had issues with eating rubber brakeline components.

Dot 5 is a silicone-based fluid and is NOT compatible with Dot 3 or 4, nor the seals in the BMW brake system. Do not use it in the LT.

The only reason HD went to dot 5 is because it has a higher boiling point,
on the earlier FLH the rear master cylinder was briliantly placed next to the exhaust pipe.

DO NOT USE DOT 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dot 5 is silicone, and CANNOT be used in a system that has or had DOT 3/4 in it. It is totally incompatible with DOT 4 fluid.

Harley systems have been ruined by people putting DOT 4 in them, and the two fluids hate each other.
