RETIRING!

For my many BMWLT.com non-Facebook Friends . . .
July 3rd is the final day turning in keys and the company laptop!

I'm going to be working hard at Retirement after the holiday weekend! The bucket is full and with my wife Linda and many friends will start the process of attempting to empty it.

My work colleagues knew that Moto-Riding was one of my passions!

New roads to travel especially The Road Not Taken!

Thank you Robert Frost.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Re: RETIRING!

Paul,
Congratulations on retirement.
Motor on over to the deep south of vermont and I'll buy you a beer (or your choice).

You are a long time member of this board I recall with affection.
Measured, reasoned posts... not like my intemperate posts, I am the number two "insenstive moron".
(You'd have to be an old timer on this site, or dig deep in the archives to learn of the original "insensitive moron". )

All the best my fiend [sp], in your retirement. You'll find out why people say they were never so busy until they retired.
Enjoy the ride,
best wishes for all good things...

Thanks Curtis!
Not sure you remember but you re-built a 2000 LT FD years ago based on a "find" on ebay. Your final diagnosis was that it was in spec but you re-shimmed it. It's still in the box after many tens of thousands of miles on the original.

I have relatives in NH, V T & Maine depending on the time of year. Riding back to NE and the coast of Maine for Lobsta is one of the future destinations.
Thanks again!
Paul

Re: RETIRING!

CharlieVT is right, it's amazing when you find out why people say they were never so busy until they retired First long trip I took was from LA to Grand Tetons/Yellowstone and back and the next year, did a 25 day/25 state tour. Don't procrastinate, just do it - enjoy your retirement!!!

Re: RETIRING!

You're going to wonder how you ever found time to work. Been retired for 8 years and my days are full. Someone wants work on their bike, appointments are needed. Give your wife a little space, she is used to having some free time with out you. First 6 or 8 months will be a change for both of you.

Re: RETIRING!

Thanks to all that have left comments and encouragement on the start of this new journey! Our local club as a Wednesday RTE and yesterday we took the roads less traveled to western PA for a great lunch in a historic post house. About ? The Harmony Inn

There are lots of projects that have been shelved for years and I've been a "Ham" radio enthusiast since my early teens. There are many new facets to that activity to explore as well.
Thanks again Gentlemen!

Re: RETIRING!

Congrats. Its always nice to see someone reach retirement. Far far to many I know just never made it. I thought I would work at least to 62. I finally had enough at 58. 40 years at the phone company in field engineering finally drove me virtually insane it seemed.

I have found I am busy every day. Projects upon projects to accomplish. I have eventually agreed to drive some of the local high school athletic teams this year to sporting events. Its took me a year and half to get the chores done, projects I have neglected accomplished and I have actually been able to farm like I have always wanted to.

6 Saturday's....one Sunday...........Life is grand......and I hope the same for you.

Re: RETIRING!

I've been retired since 2014 at age 51.
But I got a second job, that I LOVE!
I work 6-1/2 hrs./182 days a year.
That leaves a lot of time to ride.
