What would you do?

My local dealer has put me in a quandry and I don't know what to do. I sent my 5 month old LT (8 K Miles) in for the reverse gear switch to be changed under warranty. Whilst my bike was there, a customer walks in and asks if my bike is for sale. (LT's for some reason are like hens teeth at the moment). He offers the dealer $750 less than new if he can take it (my bike) by the end of November! The dealer phones me and tells me this and says that he can have a brand new one by Jan 6 2007. The other guy can't wait - can I?

The dealer has even offered me the continued use of the new GT or a GS until a new one arrives. What should I do?

I love my Ocean Blue. The 2007 colours are Black, Grey and slime green - no choice there. But, does the 2007 come with any extras now like: ipod connections or Xenon lights? Hope so! C'mon guys, I need help here to decide!

I would rather be riding my bike and thinking about God than sitting in Church thinking about my bike!

Regards
Allen

Depends Birdman, but playing around on the new GT for a couple of months waiting on the new LT to come in sounds like fun to me.

For 2007 the third color is Biarritz Blue. Where did green come from -- have you seen one in green?

To answer your question: Oh absolutely I'd do it. And the sooner the better. Your bike is only 5 months old and you'll lose only $750 in depreciation in this deal. Ride a GT for one month and a GS (if that interests you) another month; by the time a new LT is available to you, you'll have removed any lingering doubts (if you had any) that you bought the wrong bike.

Get the potential buyer to sweeten the pot just a little, and if one of the GT/GS offers doesn't interest you then have the dealer give you another model for a month!

I'd jump all over it unless you have a bunch of farkles that totals to thousands.

Unless you are really emotionally attached to your current ride, or as Grif says have it so farkled up you'd have to spend thousands to get a new one to the same standard, then I would jump on it. Enjoy!

I have a V-stream screen which I will replace with the unused original, and the ZTechnique armrests come off! Part of the deal. Yep, I think I'll go for it!

Do it if you do not have a bunch of farkels to repace and and GT to ride arround on for a few months is cool.

Dealer lent me the new GT whilst my LT was in the shop. Powerful beyond belief, but the gearbox is like stirring coal! Not as smooth as my old GT. But that's just my opinion. But, second hand riding is better that first class boredom - aaargh - waiting for all the new GT guys to object!

After you ride the GT a while, it will become as though you and the bike are one, and you will not go back to the LT. The GT is so more nimble and powerful. The ride may not be as cushy..
Enjoy the change of scenery!

Question Sales tax?

Not sure how it works in other states but in California you have to pay sales tax on every new (or even used for that matter) vehicle you purchase.
You just bought your bike a few months ago. Did you have to pay sales tax on 20 something Grand? If so you are likely to pay sales tax again on your next bike. In los Angeles County the sales tax rate is 8.25%. That is a lot of change to pay twice in just a few months. Before you consider taking the deal I would make sure the numbers make sense. And if they do... then by all means take the deal!

Since the buyer is paying the dealer, the dealer is certainly making out pretty well here both with the buyer and with you buying the new bike. He is being very reasonable with you in giving you the GT to use. That said, he's doing it for a reason- his business. Sounds like there may be room for you to tell him that if he wants you to do this, he should just swap bikes for you and it shouldn't cost you the $750. (I'd probably do it anyway, but it can't hurt to ask and while asking tell him how much you really like this bike and you don't know if you can bring yourself to part with it.... ) Also, will the purchase of the new bike cost you in other ways such as sales tax or a new registration fee?

I have to admit it too. Unless I had a lot of $$ toys on her, I'd be all over that like a cheap suit.

What would I do? Ship my '02 down and let them sell it off for me. Sound's like it's a seller's market.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
