First ride, First impressions

The rain finally stopped and it got warm here again (71*), so, I was FINALLY able to get in my first ride on the LT I got last Sat.
Firstly, first gear is TALL, much taller than anything I've ridden before. Took some getting used to.
Second, the brakes...another thing to get used to. They are like driving a truck with air brakes for the first time.
On to the good stuff... Lots of power on demand. Very smooth ride...almost too smooth. I was riding through a long sweeping curve I had entered at 60. Before I realized it, I had exited the curve at 80 (no cops around, fortunately). The electric W/S is a real joy. as I got up to highway speeds the wind noise was getting loud. A press of the switch and I'm in Maxwell Smart's "cone of silence", very nice feature.
Couldn't stop smiling while riding it...In fact, I'm still smiling.

I didn't find the low speeds to be any problem at all (hearing people talk about it had me wary), never even came close to tipping it, even in the Home Depot parking lot. It just seems to want to stay upright (laying down would be undignified) Can't wait for the next ride.
Pic of the "new" LT attached.

low speed stuff

hi ken....welcome to the forum and enjoy the LT, it's a great bike but don't get too confident with the low speed stuff...remember "a whore is easy to meet"...i've ridden my LT for over a year and i think i'm really just beginning to understand the machine...it's not really a question of "if" you're going to drop it, it's only a question of when...(learn how to pick it up) it will surprise you when you least expect it...not to make you paranoid, but the bike requires some experience and learning...best of luck.

Never. I always treat each machine/tool I own or work with/on with respect. Never over estimate yourself or under estimate them. That is inviting disaster.
