Question Loose rider seat??

After a little tupperware party and removal/reinstall of both seats, I noticed this morning that the rider seat seems like it might not be latching properly. I keep the seat height adjuster in the lower position. After I put the seat down and hop on the bike, I hear a click/snap or two when the seat settles all the way down. If I get off and pull up on the seat, it raises up a good inch or so, before the latch mechanism catches it.

Does this sound normal? It may have been that way all along (I've only had the bike for 2-3 months) and I just never noticed it.

Sounds like the bracket in the rear of the seat needs to be adjusted..

Might be silly question, but is the back seat in correctly?
The front seat rests on two rubber bumpers that are attached to the top of the back seat where it meets the frame. An inch sounds like a lot to be out of adjustment if you didn't loosen anything else, like the bracket at the back of the seat.

Brian gave you a good idea to check on.

Also, there is a place on the left and right of the rear seat where the bike seat rests... if something is in the way, that could cause a problem.

Finally, check to make sure the "Height" adjustment bar is fully "detented" into the "low" position. My seat had a defect and the bar would "flop" to the high position when I openned the seat....

Hmmm... the seat looks like it's in correct - everything seems nice and flush and even, the bolts are threaded into the only holes available, and the bumper thingies are sitting directly on the frame and appear to be lined up well with the corresponding features on the bottom of the seat. The plastic shapes surrounding the bumpers look slightly chewed up - but not necessarily recently chewed up; I assume that's from an accumulation of seat latching with slight misalignment over the years. Again, I don't recall the seat being loose like this before, although I suppose it's possible.

I also checked out the seat height bracket to ensure it was securely latched into the "lowered" position (thanks Deacon). No issues there.

I realized I left a wiring cover off the back of the radio so sooner or later I'm gonna hafta do the TP thing again. Maybe another seat removal/reinstall may clear things up, who knows.
