Rule of thumb for launching the LT properly is never exceed 15-1800 RPM while slipping the clutch to get her rolling. Once the clutch is fully engaged (and by now you should be halfway through the intersection) hammer the throttle with your left hand OFF the clutch and hold it. Once the bike goes past 4,000 RPM she will come alive and accelerate up to 60 MPH. Then shift out of 1st gear. If you don't shift you will hit the rev limiter at 62 MPH. Seriously, never exceed 2000 rpm while slipping the clutch or it will continue to slip until you roll off the throttle. Once the clutch is fully engaged go for it.
I think your clutch is just fine but you need to handle it differently than you have been. The LT is like no other bike.
