Total LT production numbers.

Some time ago. I asked just how many LT's were produced from 1999- 2009. The number I got was 37,872 .Got this figure somewhere. Don't know where?? Anyways. I contacted the mothership (BMW) They told me those numbers were not available to the public. Huh?? Why I don't know? Anyways. May have asked before .Does anyone know? If that figure is close? I know LT's are relatively rare as compared to other tourers. If that figure is correct. That would explain rarity of seeing them. But that number seems too low.

Re: Total LT production numbers.

From www.howmanyleft.co.uk there would appear to have been a total of 784 registered in the UK from 2001

Re: Total LT production numbers.

I wonder how many (which) countries they were sold in. I mistakenly assumed that they were a North American only model.

Re: Total LT production numbers.

Maybe we and "self Answer" the question. Arent VIN numbers significant in some way. Like would the last 5 digits be significant?

My 2009 last five digits are 74318.

Anybody got a higher number?

How about 1999 MY owners, how low is your number?

Re: Total LT production numbers.

The last digits for my 1999 late model year Canadian model (bought in 2000) is 48067 which might mean 26251 units made between the two dates.
I believe they started making these in late 1998 and sold the last ones in 2010 so the 37k number may be in the ball park.

My '99 bike's number is 41839. Which either means they made over 6000 LTs that year, or VIN numbers aren't a reliable way of guesstimating overall production numbers.

Re: Total LT production numbers.

I got a number..From where I don't know of 37,872. That doesn't seem like it should be close. But then again. They didn't sell like the Goldwing or Ultra Classic. Before I bought one I laid eyes on maybe 1.

Re: Total LT production numbers.

Agreed. I saw maybe 1 or 2 LTs before I bought one. One of the many reasons I love her so much. There's not one at every other stop light.

No. You rarely see one. But the minute I got the one I test rode rolling and got over the weight. I loved it
