05 worth 4950.00$

dealer where i used to work has a 05 with 118,000 miles! that they say needs a ecm i didnt talk to them about it just noticed it sitting there.. i think they are over priced by about 4k$$ what you guys think??

i think if you can pick up a used ecm for 100-200$ why not fix it for there sake. i think they are scared to work on it and put a super high price on it for some reason. i dont think a good running 05 with that kind of mileage on it is not even worth 5k$
now if i could pick it up for a grand might be worth it?

They may be hoping that someone will make a reasonable offer. Depending on the service history and updates, it might well be worth 4K but it would take someone who knew about these things to really go over it to tell and with no history, some things are a crap shoot. It doesn't sound like a barn find though

I paid $5600 for a 2005 in September 2015 with 54,000 miles on it and no problems. In fact they rebuilt the final drive before they sold it to me. So yes, I think it is over priced.

With no service history, possibly but if it has had the brake rotors upgraded with EBC, new Splegler brake lines, the clutch O-ring replaced with Viton and new clutch parts and slave with the weep holes drilled and transmission seals, final drive properly rebuilt and otherwise good service records, it may only be slightly over priced if all it really needed was a couple hundred dollar module. Even if you do all that yourself, you are looking at several thousand in parts and then there is the time and labor but I suspect that all has not been done and there are no service records to the status of those items. Now that I have had my LT for over 4 years and done all of that myself, I know the value that would add to a bike already having all that done. The 118k miles would not be the worrisome part, at least for me.

Re: 05 worth 4950.00$

No.

I own a 2005 K1200LT with 77,000 and a failed ABS pump -- over $3,000. I traded an unflawed, low-mileage 2007 for very different kind of bike to escape exorbitant maintenance costs.

That bike's only advantage is its convenience. If you want an older, lower-priced LT, put some effort into internet shopping, followed by physical shopping, and into due diligence.

Simply -- no.
