Angry Stumped - Won't switch audio to headset

I'm in the middle of finishing up an install of an amateur radio transceiver. This required pulling the tupperware, windshield, nose cone and stingray.

Prior to the install everything was working 100%. Always had sound through helmet headset, GPS announced through headset and cell phone worked. Also, I have an iceLink for my iPod. Well that was before.

I installed the radio transceiver. It operates through the CB interface to the BC3. After completing the install to the dashboard I started buttoning things up, re-installed the stingray, etc.

I started testing things before putting back all the tupperware. Now, I am unable to get the BC3 to switch to headphones from the speakers. Anyone have any ideas? Yes, I've connected it and disconnected it from the battery multiple times.

Thumbs down Additional info...

I tried using the intercom through the helmet headset/mic. Its dead as a door nail. This suggests that power isn't getting to the bc-3.

Anybody know whether there are fuses or fusible links in the bc-3?

Many times this is switched using a relay under the seat. Open your seat and cycle your key a few times. Your should hear the relay "Click" as you cycle the key on and off. It may be the relay and/or the power that supplies the relay. Some dealers, when tapping power for the LTE equipment, used the heated seat circuit. You may want to check that. The easy way to check that would be to power up your heated seat, if it doesn't work you may find the problem. I have also found that the Relay BMW uses isn't sufficient and may need replacement. I hope this helps.

Talking Thanks for your help - Problem FIXED!!

You were very, very close to the problem. I started backtracking and checked the relay. Yes, it clicked. So, I'm thinking the relays ok. Well.....

I unbuttoned everything again and started checking obvious places where supply voltage was supposed to be. Got nada.... Made no sense to me. Kept checking with the voltmeter and decided to check the supply voltage coming out of the relay and nada once again. Hmmmm. Bad relay?

I started looking at the relay - I'm thinking how am I gonna test this puppy and then I noticed the fuse. A fuse.... can't be the fuse could it? I pulled the fuse and damn it was blown. Replaced it - voila!!!

Thanks for re-directing me from making things worse. I was gonna dive into the bc-3 and start probing around. I surely would've caused myself more grief.

Talking Problem fixed!

Keith,

I didn't do the ride but I did sleep on it. See below.

Today, I put the beast at least partly back together. And yes, I do need to ride.
