Question Fuel leak - help

My '02 sprung a fuel leak this weekend from the pressure hose connected to the fuel pump. I tried to tighten the clamp (using a plier) but gas still spraying out the end of the hose.

The hose itself feels a bit worn so I figure it would be best to install new hoses, clamps, and quick disconnects on both the pressure and return lines.

Should I purchase these parts from my dealer? It looks like the hoses can be removed and installed without taking off the gas tank (although there isn't much working space below the fuel pump). Do I need some special crimping tool for the hose clamps?

Any other options or recommendations? i.e. Can I purchase the hoses, clamps, and quick disconnects from someone other than BMW and crimp everything together myself?

You can replace the crimp type clamps with worm type from your local hardware store. To get you by, you can just use a barb spline type connector instead of the quick disconnects. Is it the disconnect that is leaking, usually it is? Take the disconnect to the hardware store for them to get you the proper barb spline connector. I think it was 5/16 but not positive on that.

5/16 hose barb

It takes a 5/16 hose barbed coupling to replace the quick-connect. I had one go bad this summer, it broke in two where the retaining clip holds them together.
