Steel Quick Disconnects

Anyone have any suggestions as to where to obtain the steel quick- disconnects?

I am going to be doing some 24k service work and figured I would replace the connectors with the steel quick disconnects.

Any advice when installing?

Thanks. TGIF.

From www.mscdirect.com . Item #88080445 (2 each) and #88080486 (2 each). Be warned, they aren't cheap.

While you're at it, go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and get you #9452K19. Industry standare -011 Size Bun-N. They are the o-rings that go on the quick disconnects. Package of 100 for $2.47.

Two sets of hoses, two set of males and two sets of females. You want to be sure that to stagger the sets so you won't get them mixed up when putting back together. One set of hoses have the male on the left, the other set of hoses have the male on the right.

These work as smoothe as butter. No fighting, they just click in place.

Thanks for posting this, Grifster -- after having Bill Wescoe's QD frag itself in my hand at the CCR tech session, I vowed to replace the plastic QD's on my LT and SWMBO's R1150GS.

Steel Quick Disconnects

Thanks Grif. Will be ordering them today. I am also ordering the upgraded throttle cables/kit from Chicago BMW.

I enjoyed meeting you over at Munson's Tech session.

Party on Dude.

Between both orders it will set you back around $100.00.
Not bad for something BMW should have done right in the first place...
But that is a small price for peace of mind!

Hoses

Pardon my ignorance but I am not sure where to order the hoses for the quick disconnects. I talked to Chicago BMW and he said that they do not sell the hoses to fit the quick disconnect.

Could you advise on where to obtain these hoses?

Grif gave all the info needed in his post above. But here it is again:

"From www.mscdirect.com . Item #88080445 (2 each) and #88080486 (2 each). Be warned, they aren't cheap.

With shipping it will cost you around 100 bones.

Steel Quick Disconnects

Thanks for the info.

I had a question on the hoses and have resolved the problem. I am going to obtain the hoses at an auto supply store.
The items have been ordered and with shipping is around 103 dollars.

Thanks again.

I just received my QDs this morning and they are awesome! I can understand why they are so pricey, the quality is top notch!
