Do I have Trouble Or What?

I am having oil weeping off the last bolt on the engine pan on the rear right side of the engine by the intermediate housing, also getting a light film of oil on the lower side of the plastic from that point back. The BIG question is, is the rear main oil seal starting to go and should BMW look into this before the bike goes off warranty in May of 07?

Don,

For what it's worth, I am not sure where the oil is coming from (and neither will anyone else be until they look it over), but if it is under warranty, I would definatley take it to a reputable dealer withoput hesitation.

Be sure it is oil, and not gasoline. A couple of people thought they had oil leaks, but turned out that it was the fuel quick disconnects leaking. Gasoline will wash everything down with it, and as it evaporates leave behind the residue which can behave and look like oil.

Since it is on the right side of the bike, this would be a suspect. That or a leaking seal on the large nut on the bottom of the tank holding the fuel pump/filter assembly in.
