Radio!!!!

I have had some troubles with my radio. It has power, it shows the stations, I can change stations using my seek button, but I have no sound.

I have taken all the connections apart and put them back to make sure they are connected properly. I still have no volume or sound from the speakers.

Anyone have any suggestions short of buying a new radio from BMW for $700?

Thnx

Darrell

Just a suggestion that you have probably already tried. Press the musical note on the stingray (bottom row, second from the left) and cycle through the options and make sure that the speakers are set to on.

On my 02 I had no sound and checked in the box on the tank where the CD player is located. There is a button on the left that puts the sound through the speakers or through the intercom. Check this if you haven't already.

If this doesn't work, the next thing I'd check is the fuses -- including the one that is hidden at the back of the radio chassis. The radio gets powre from, IIRC, 3 sources. There can be power to operate the radio display unit, but if the fuse at the back of the radio's out, then the radio's amps won't have power.

Good to always check the basics -- the display should read "MUTE" if this is the case, so it's easy to check. Also, no need to check both switches -- they are momentary-contact switches, so they don't "lock" into place; either one can disengage the mute function with a single tap.
