question about LT windshield mount arm repros

Hi,
I just bought a K1200LT from my place of employment.
One of the things that this project bike needed/needs is the upper arms of the windshield actuator.

I was able to locate a motor/mount rails on ebay where the bottom arms were broken but the top were ok.

In doing my research I discovered the whole situation with BMW only offering the entire unit for $700+

At Bob's BMW they have milled parts out of aluminum and I told Bob about my search for these arms and the habit of breaking they have.

We are looking into fabricating them but the price point at which we would need to place them is making us second guess viability.

If you don't mind I would like to go right to the audience and see what you guys think.

How many people would be interested a set of upper arms for the K1200LT if they were billet aluminum parts at about $100 for the pair?

This whole thing started with me trying to find parts for my bike and seeing the number of posts here from people in the same situation made me wonder if we could fill that need.

Just spitballing at this point.

Welcome to the forums. Please take a moment to fill out your profile and tell us a little bit about yourself.

There are several members who have fabricated out of Lexan the windshield arms you are referencing. I think they offered up their surplus at around $5 each. Fairly simple to make, and VERY cost-effective.

That said, I do not think you will find much market interest at $100.

Re: question about LT windshield mount arm repros

I didn't see anyone currently offering the lexan ones.

We also thought $100 would be high. although they would be aluminum and should last forever.

we are also looking at 3d printing.
