starter stuck ??

I went to start the LT this morning, and had a low battery enough not to start (hhmmmm) so on went the charger hopeing for a quick 5-10 and launch.......no such luck.

second try was unimpresive and on third or fourth try the starter solinoid seemed to stick, the starter kept trying rrrrhhhhmmmmmp rrrrhhhhmmmmmp rrrrhhhhmmmmmp EVEN after I released the starter button, AND turned off the key !!!!

my wrenchin skills tell me the starter solinoid is stuck, (fused/welded) maybe mechanically or electrically whatever.....
SO where IS the starter solinoid ????

I looked under the seat next to the battery (like my old bike ....)

SO where is it, AND am I looking for the right problem

Help !!!!

Starter relay is stuck. The box it lives in is under the right side of the gas tank.

Try this:
Charge the battery up, hook up the cables and with the starter spinning hit the start button a few times. This may unfuse it.

The next option is to jump the bike off of a curb with the starter spinning. That works sometimes, too.

Relay upgrade

Sounds like you need to do the starter relay upgrade..
Kit is available from your dealer for some outrageous price.

Low battery welds the starter relay closed...

Try as Grif stated to Pull the wires off the battery, Charge it.
Hook up the wires and when the starter starts to spin tap the button a few times... It may unstick but you still need the mod..

Good Luck..

I'll pass on the BMW $250 "fix" being a wrench and former ET I like the generic mod better and may have an improvement on it as well.

Thanks guys, you, my pc and BMWLT.com saved me a bundle at BOBs , (he's a nice guy, but he doesnt need my money) !!!!!
