Newbie's 1st post
Hey all, been lurking in the shadows reading all the threads and thought I would give a big thanks to all the knowledge and help that has been offered on this site to everyone. I bought an 03 LTE in June with 26,500m and so far I don't have any complaints, just a few concerns. On the subject of rear end failure, does it go all at once and lock up causing loss of control or does it start roaring like a pinion bearing an a car. I know that if gear dope is seen on the rear that the seal has failed and if let go, bearing failure follows. I rode
Cherohala Skyway and Deals Gap last Sunday 2 up and when we got home the rear hub was about 140 degrees, it was 94 degrees outside so I figure that a lot of that was ambient temp. I know that Industrial temps on bearings
and gear box drives and couplings anything under 185 degrees is acceptable.
Has anyone ever checked hub temps after riding, if so what did you get.
Do the RT riders have the same problems with rear ends as the LT riders.
Sorry for the long post, just had to ask. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
