Question Using an Optimate III charger on an LT ?

I have and Optimate III trickle charger which I'd previously used on my Triumph Trophy, I'd like to know if this is ok to use on my 03 LT ?

Thanks

That's great, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the LT needed a special charger, but if this one does the job then I'm a happy bunny.

battery fryer

Andy

I think the issue is more what battery you have fitted. If you have a standard loking wet battery as you would expect in a fairly new bike then accoprding to http://www.accumate.co.uk/MFBatteries.htm it should be okay.

If it is a Gel type then I am not so sure.

Optimate III is supposed to work on all battery types.

"Suitable for all types of rechargeable lead-acid batteries: filler cap types; absorbed acid "MF" for motorcycles; valve regulated (VRLA); & GEL-electrolyte types."

If you have an 05' and the original GelCel, it requires the BMW badged charger becuase it has a special charging algorium. This comes from BMW and Deltran. I used my Battery Tender Plus when I first got the 05 LT last year and killed the battery in about a week.

Been using an Optimate III on my BMW gel battery for 4 years and it's still going strong. The battery's 7 years old now and still cranks the beast fine even on a cold morning.
