2000 BMW K1200LT and 100,000 Miles

I'm 40 miles from reaching the 100,000-mile mark on my bike. What did you folks do to commemorate the milestone?

Never got that far on one motorcycle. If convenient at each 10,000 mile increment, I stop and take a picture of the odometer. Other than that, I just keep on riding!

Re: 2000 BMW K1200LT and 100,000 Miles

When we got close to 100k on our first K1200LT my wife and I rode to a nearby lake to take a couple of "glamour shots", and my riding buddy went with us, too. Some photos of the LT, some of all 3 of us, etc. Lunch afterwards. You can find the thread on this site.

A good time was had by all.

Congratulations on reaching that milestone. Your local BMW dealer, and BMW MOA if you are a member, will get a nice plaque and souvenir for you.

I stopped and took a picture of it. When I rolled it to 123,456 I also took a picture of it.

Congrats, just doing 100K on a motorcycle is a feat and on the one bike , well that is a big deal. I'm talking dinner and dairy Queen all in one night, now that is celebrating.

Re: 2000 BMW K1200LT and 100,000 Miles

I have an '05. At 100K I considered trading or selling it. Low value so. . .I put a Hannigan sidecar on it. Bike now has 208,000 on the clock; roughly 100K tugging a hack.

Re: 2000 BMW K1200LT and 100,000 Miles

I am just so PISSED at this post (lol). My purchased new 2000LT had 99,960 miles on it when someone broad sided me and totaled it. Lucky, I was able to walk away with just minor bruises. Just one more day of driving to work and it would have turned 100k. I now have a 08RT and know that I will never reach that milestone again, at least not on one bike. I would still be riding it today (if not totaled).

Now that would be depressing. But, you walked away so all is good.

Thats Impressive.

At 208K,

how many slave cylinders have you replaced? (if any)
same question for the rear drive and clutch etc.
any other major repairs?

thanks.

I'm at 87k on my 02
replaced slave cyl. once,
valves were all in spec at 50K (haven't been in there since)
replaced the rear drive bearing/seal ... just because I took it apart to measure preload/shims
servo brake/abs unit died.
I eliminated it all and ran traditional brake lines...

thats about it... knock on wood.

I flog her daily as my daily rider/commuter bike.
