Re: BOOSTER PLUG

I have one on my 04 R1150RT. I installed it on that bike because it likes to ping when hot, the BP does help a bit. The LT has no such problems even using 89 octane gas, I can put the transmission in 5th gear and the engine wont complain between 40-120 mph. Try that on the RT and the engine would ping and buck until the RPMs got over 4k.

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

I used it on my '08 GS and it worked to smooth out some of the driveline lash. Motorcycle Consumer News liked 'em too, which is why I bought it. Have no idea about your bike's applicability.

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

Thanks for the reply's.

My understanding is that it is more beneficial on the K bikes.
I have the low power issues when hot outside and our gas here in UT is the shites!

I am going to try one. I'll post my results.

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

I would not mix R- bikes and K-bikes in this discussion - not to talk about newer generation R-bikes running on notoriously lean mixture. If i have understood the functionality of booster plug correctly it just adjusts the impedance of the IAT sensor making bike think it is colder / thus running on richer mixture. This can easily be done by disconnecting IAT-sensor.

Born to be wild so why not

You waited three whole hours before following up to your own post? Wow, what patience!

I bought an Accelerator module as it was cheaper than the Booster and does the same thing. My problem is off-idle hesitation rather than pinging. I can't say the module made any significant difference.

If you want mind, make me an offer.

Thanks Voyager,
Sorry I'll work on that.
According to those Swedish guys at Boosterplug.com they warn against copycats, they have the test results on their website.

It's in the mail and after the install I'll give you a full report on the results.

I know you have been suffering from the same results when air temp is hot outside.

I've had my IAT unplugged with great success.

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

Received my booster plug yesterday, got it installed without any drama.
Too early to tell, but it runs better at 95f.
Especially leaving the stop lights.
I'll put some miles on it and report back.

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

Finally had a chance to put a few miles on the bike with the booster plug installed.

After a 300 mile run last weekend I really enjoyed the way the bike ran. Although the ambient temp was only in the 80's, I didn't see any change in gas mileage, 45-47 mpg at 4000 rpms in 5th gear, idle was smoother, increased low end power etc.

I think it was worth the cost, time will tell when the ECU gets adjusted to the change in IAT.
