Hello gang. I performed my annual fluid change 2 weekends ago. Trans gear oil, Final drive, Engine oil. Upon removing the pita exhaust bracket. I looked way up where the front dust seal boot is. I noticed a little oil residue very little around it. And a little tear drop of oil hanging on the bottom of the boot. I sprayed it with brake clean. Looking under it today i noticed another tiny drop of oil. Took a long Q tip and wiped it. It doesn't appear to be coming out of the boot or the slave. It didn't smell like gear oil or brake fluid. It really had no smell for what little i was able to swab. Any ideas? And no i don't have a weep hole drilled.

That boot is fixed to the swing arm and you grease the front end so it will slide on the transmission boss. Either that has liquefied or you have an output shaft seal weeping. For now I would just wipe it down and monitor as even a seal weep will not drain your transmission. Not something to panic about. You may also want to undo the metal clamp on the drive boot and pop it back to look up in the swing arm with a flash light for oil evidence.

Yup. Just for a sanity check. If your transmission output shaft seal is weeping there will be a trail of oil on the inside of the swing arm. If it is dry I would enjoy riding the rest of the summer before looking further to the cause.

When i replaced my FD last summer. No oil. Dry as the desert. But i will pull boot back and look with an inspection mirror. I never have oil drips on garage floor or anywhere.. Thanks again.

It would be a hard job lying on the garage floor. I don't have a lift table.😬😯

Still the same little drop on the boot after a good ride. No worse and doesn't leave any drops on the ground. I will pull boot back tommorow and check for oil. Been riding it having to much fun. Got a weekend trip in a week to KY. For a distillery tour and a loop through WV. Then a weekend in Oct in Lexington VA. She should be fine.
