New(ish) K1200LT owner with rookie question about Reverser

Hi All,
My bike didn't come with manuals so I've purchased what I could but there are still some things missing.
My current question regards the basics of getting the bike to 1. engage the Reverser lever / dial and 2. the settings for the bike to actually go backwards.
After many tries at different settings I've only successfully got it to go backwards 1x and don't remember the combo to get to that point e.g. should the engine be running? In 1st gear? ...

Any input / help is appreciated. A reference to an owners manual would be great as well. I have the mechanical / electrical manual but it doesn't refer to operation.

Thank you, -Jay

Like Linton said. Normal operation is the engine will rev slightly and the bike should reverse as long as you hold the starter button down. If it only goes a few feet and stops the speed sensor is faulty. Just press the starter button again as often as you need for reversing until you can get a replacement sensor. Send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I'll fix you up. Also state the year of the bike please.

Be careful the first time. Do is on the FLAT and LEVEL.

Our BIG GIRLS like to lay down and take a NAP. Getting her back up can be a chore. Any other question ask.

Ride safe and long.

No need to hurt yourself picking up an LT tanking a nap.
Watch Skert pick it up, by herself.
Easy day.
