I will let the guru's respond with more solid tech info but if you have an intermittent rear speed sensor fault, I would start there. Remove it, clean it and if there is an adjustment procedure for clearance, I would do that and see if it continues. I also have a 2001 ( Brembo calipers) and the brake system does not use the servo brake assist but a modulator so if that system fails, you still have fill brake function, just no anti lock. Since you actually have a code, I would start there and see if you have a bad connection at the connector for that sensor or a lot of gunk built up on it. If you clear the code, does it come back on the next check after the fault occurs even if it isn't currently present when you check?
