I had two exhaust header breaks on mine (many years ago), and it was not visible until the exhaust was removed. Even after it was removed, I did not see it right away. The breaks on mine were where the flange is welded to the pipe, and it is up inside the flange, so not visible when on the bike.
You can tell if that is the case by loosening the exhaust header nuts a couple turns, then try twisting the flanges back and forth. If they move at all, they are broken. Once the exhaust is off, this is an easy weld repair by any competent welder. The welder that did mine re-welded all four, with a wider bead than stock. Never had a problem with them again.
