100w h3 bulbs

Just curious, would a 100w h3 bulb put out too much heat or draw too much and burn up wires on a Lt? I had a bike where the PO installed 2 80/100 H4 bulbs and it did melt the plug. I'm guessing that it will be to much.

Yes. The wires will melt since BMW engineered it for only a 4 amp load and the new bulb will draw 7.5 amps. + it will generate almost twice the heat. Far better to go HID. Less current.

Yes it would. Not only the wires that can be damage but also the reflector lens would fade in no time.

Re: 100w h3 bulbs

Years ago, people were trying higher wattage bulbs (before HID conversions became the real fix) and suffered fogged lenses. The higher heat drives plasticizers out of the plastic near the bulb, and that condenses on the inside of the lens, effectively ruining the whole unit. A very expensive mistake!

Go HID, you won't regret it!
