Brake flush today

It's been two years so decided this morning to flush brake circuits. Judging from the photo attached perhaps once a year is now on the list.

Thanks to Jzeiler for the video, just needed to remind myself which port was front and which was rear.

My fluid is at least that dark after a 4 day ride in the mountains when I stay at the Iron Horse Lodge.

This one was so big it is only available on a DVD as a fund raiser for CCR. $25 gets you a copy.

John,
To help identify the "Control-circuit" bleeder points on the ABS-unit, print the attached diagram and keep it nearby next time.

This diagram is valid only for 2nd gen K1200LT (2005-2009) having the ABS-unit horizontal (with reservoirs on top).

Dave,

I don't heat my brakes up as much as you, I am little more sedate.

You ride her so hard your brakes bleed, thats why your fluid gets so dark.

How does staying at the Iron Horse Lodge make your brake fluid turn dark?

Shhh... I always squeeze a little of Charlene's Prime Rib juice in Dave's brake reservoirs when he stays at the lodge.

Follow me sometime on the roads near the Lodge to find out. Going 112 mph into a 30 mph corner on the big pig & waiting until the last second to slow down gets the brake fluid a little warm. I get brake fade now & then.

I had fun like that in the Alps on a K1600 rental. Much more fun on a rental.

Had similar fun running around Watkins a Glen a few years ago on my LT. Second and third gear between 6 and 8 K. Great fun, but I hate running my own bike that hard.
