I think I messed up

After my rear brake line on my 99 K1200 ruptured, I bought the Speigler kit to replace all of my lines. I watched the 54 minute YouTube video, and watched it again while I was doing the work. Everything was going great, I made everything fit, got it torqued down, went to bleed the system, and after getting new fluid in, it's all just shooting out of the bottom of the caliper and onto my garage floor. I've determined so far that this isn't right, but don't know what to do from here.

Sounds to me like you may have not used the spacers to replace the brake pads when you went to bleed the system. Other more expert wrenchers may chime in with other thoughts. Good luck on the fix!

Re: I think I messed up

more information is needed the the crystal ball went flat, where exactly is the leak? can you take a photo, did you have the pads out and pop a piston, if all you have done is changed the lines it should not have any impact on the caliper, so what have you done..? you did fit the new washers each side of the banjo,
If you undo the bleeder to much the fluid will bypass the bleed nipple and come out, they only need to be cracked far enough to allow the fluid to run, its much easier to have a second person squeezing the brake and then the other opens and closes the bleeder after each pump.

Re: I think I messed up

Axle has explained it pretty good for you. I haven't replaced my brake lines but about every brake line has copper or some other washer that has to be fitted to either side or one side of the bolt on most lines. You'll figure it out!
