I can no longer the trunk and can not unlock CD compartment. I replaced the latch last year, and there are no parts available for the lock. Any ideas ?

Eons ago, a room mate I once had was a locksmith, who taught me to never use wd-40 in a lock, as it attracts dirt. I use only graphite, which is a little harder to work into the lock, but does make the internals more slippery. But to each his own.

Re: LT Lock

I'd try to get the lock core out of it & take it with the key to a lock shop. I've never found a lock core that I couldn't get replaced & re-keyed, though admittedly I haven't ventured into a central locking system yet. Not sure what the servo/lock looks like if you have central locking.

You can"t lock your bags? (side cases work ok? Top case wont lock?) Are you locking with a key fob? If you lock your cases with the key fob and something happens to the fob, your key will unlock every compartment except the cd compartment. That costs $75 at your bmw shop. Ask me how I know.

Re: LT Lock

You have an 05 with central locking so if the truck is no longer working with the FOB look for a two pin connector under the rear seat near the center by the barrel connector. That is the one for that solenoid. The CD compartment (oddiments box) is a little tougher. Some times you have to really smack it with the palm of your hand while operating the FOB. Also the screw that holds the tupperware on right at the lock on the left side MUST be a very short screw or it will jam the solenoid mechanism.
