RAM Mount for Mirror Holes?

Maybe this has been covered somewhere but I've been reading lots of posts and haven't found anything yet. I'd like to mount one of the RAM mount balls in the empty mirror hole/slot on the LT handlebar. Has anybody used that hole for a RAM mount and if so what is the number of the mount, just a simple bolt sticking up a couple of inches with the ball on the top. Thanks in advance.

Re: RAM Mount for Mirror Holes?

I use the right mirror hole for a ram ball mount that I put a Iway 500 on. I did something to a SS screw on my lath to make up the mount, but a bolt up the hole would have worked too.

Re: RAM Mount for Mirror Holes?

I use the mirror holes for (of all things) mirrors.

I do have the RAM mount that goes on the brake or clutch MC cover for my drink holder.

The one I have has the ball offset to the side so my drink holder isn't hanging in front of my controls, however I believe they make one with the ball in the center if your using it to mount a device.

Re: RAM Mount for Mirror Holes?

Yes I found the clutch/brake reservoir covers and was going for one of them when I realized there was a hole for a mirror in the LT. I found a couple of RAM options, the best from Cycle Concepts

but at $45 seemed very pricey for a ball and a bolt but it looks like a good use of the hole and you don't mess with the reservoir covers.

Re: RAM Mount for Mirror Holes?

I would be concerned that the mirror hole Ram mount would block view of the rear view mirror. I have the Ram clutch reservoir mount offset to the right for my GPS and that doesn't block the mirror view. Easy enough to remove for clutch fluid change. It clears my drink holder fine.
