Rear brakes stopped working

Hi all!

I was out riding my '99 K1200LT today and realized on a hill start that my rear brakes had completely stopped working. I stopped and found the line was leaking directly under the brake pedal. I know this will probably end up being a dealer fix, but has anybody ever had this issue?

Re: Rear brakes stopped working

they blow out in different spots, mine was the front hose, don't bother replacing just the one hose though, as they will most likely all go now one by one. get the speiglar braided kit and change all the hoses

agree on the speiglars, Go ahead and replace them all while you are at it as if one is leaking the others will probably fail soon.

Re: Rear brakes stopped working

You are way overdue for brake line replacements...
I had a blockage on the rear line and a leak on the front line going fron the master cylinder on my 05 LT.
As suggested replace with a Spiegler kit.
I tried using a local shop and the clocking of the fittings wasn't quite right so I had to work on bending gently...

There is NO way that this needs to be a "dealer" fix. It is not difficult, you just have to be methodical. I am sure someone close to you has done this and is willing to help. There are instructions here: BMW K1200LT DIY Spiegler Brake Lines Replacement
