Is That a LT Smashed by a Truck?

My local newspaper, Newsday Long Island (New York) reported today that a 2002 BMW motorcycle was hit by a pickup truck. Click on the pdf attachment to see the bike on its side in front of the truck (photo is located lower right). Looks like a LT?;(not a good photo). The driver of the bike, Ricado Rivas, was taken to the local hospital with serious injuries. I don't know him, is he a member? My sympathies go out to him and his family. My wife won't let me drive my LT on Long Island, she claims the traffic is too dangerous. I keep my bike in Florida at my brother's house for that reason.

Looks like it and from the lane position it appears to be the classic left turn in front of a bike.

Too bad about the rider's condition, but notice how the LT defended itself against the pickup truck. Really did a job on it's front end.

Damn sure is an LT. Can tell by the tail light. Even looks like a Metzeler on the back.

Re: Is That a LT Smashed by a Truck?

Just had an accident like that happen right next to my house. Terrible intersection. I came by just in time to see the guy getting wheeled to the chopper that had landed in the road. News reports say the guy survived. 62 year old woman made a left turn right in front of him. You could see the 20 foot skid mark from the bike. The guy must have been right on her when she decided to turn left right in front of him. Sad deal.

Intersections & inattentive cagers can be a lethal combination. High visibility helps somewhat. I have 3 HID forward lights but maybe I'll add 2 more.
