2005 brake fluid reservoir location

I need to change rear pads. I wanted to check rear brake fluid level before I compress the caliper pistons. Where is the rear caliper reservoir? Is it ok to just compress and go?

Thanks

Re: 2005 brake fluid reservoir location

It's part of the ABS unit, under the seat on the left. There are actually four places for brake fluid, two for control circuits and two for brakes.

Looking for the photo that shows the location on top of the ABS unit.

Take a look at this file for location.

Re: 2005 brake fluid reservoir location

If the level was set properly at the last brake flush you will not overflow the reservoir. Having said that here is the location of the rear reservoir (it is the shorter of the two with the funnel in it). The proper procedure when flushing is to have the caliper pistons fully pushed in for the flush. Then top off the reservoir and re install the pads and seat then against the rotor. That way you have no spillage when replacing the pads.

I just flushed mine. The rear resevoir is on the bikes right side under the seat. Towards the back.

That is the rear control circuit reservoir, the braking reservoir is on top of the ABS unit.
