heated seat wire

Ok I know that I shouldn't be worried about heated seats in AZ but, I found the wire for what I believe is for the heat as its the only wire from the seat. It's been snipped as there is no end. I'm looking for the wire that would connect to it but cannot find it. What connector is on it so I know what I'm looking for?

Re: heated seat wire

I guess I need to find the other end of the snipped wire as the connection is under Tupperware.

Re: heated seat wire

The connector for the seat heater isn't really under tupperware. It should be on the top left rail of the rear frame near the bottom of the fuel tank, accessible, by lifting the seat. It's a white connector with a brown(-) and a green(+) wire.

If your bike has always been in AZ, someone may have decided to use the seat heat power for something else and snipped the connector off the seat to wire to whatever they needed ignition on, power for.

If the entire connector is gone they may have direct wired, eliminating the connector. You can run the seat heater from any key on circuit, be careful not to overload though. The wires on this bike are a little undersized. I run a couple of fuse boxes that are key on with relays and heavier wire to run all my add-ons. That would be the best way to power the seat if the circuit is in use for something else.

Re: heated seat wire

Where can I order the wire connector from the seat? The PO snipped it off. I found the connector from the bike. Am I making this harder than it needs to be and is it just easier to just change the connectors all together?

The issue you will have ordering the connector from the dealer is that then you need the pins and then a special crimper to make the connections.

I would just go online and order something, I would have said Radio shack a few months ago. Perhaps you have a local electronics shop near-by.

Re: heated seat wire

Thanks John, I'll just get connectors locally then. It's not that I'll need the heat now but I'm going through the bike after purchase and I can't stand tubes not working..

Thanks again
