KLT grip cap

I'm missing the left grip cap for my '02 K1200LT with heated grips. Local BMW dealer is no help. Can anyone advise where I might be able to find one? They are just cheap plastic and just push on and twist to attach. The plastic tab probably broke and it just fell off in my travels.

Not sure why my pictures did not load???

Thanks

Re: KLT grip cap

Try Beemerboneyard and Rubber Side Up , used parts I would call as this not something they would post. I know Rubber Side up is dismantling a K LT right now

That's odd because it shows up in the BMW computerized parts diagram but it is not sold as a separate item. It's under the "Chrome" option.

The 'Chrome' option that is listed in the parts fiche at MAX BMW is for the finger lever that is pulled back to the ribbed handgrip - clutch and brake. I've seen lots of LTs and never an OEM cap like you pictured, Wayne. I wish your other pictures had shown more. Good luck.

That looks like the end of a Kuryakyn grip cap.

Re: KLT grip cap

This is the beast from the BMW fische.
The parts guy was anble to click on one more level of detail and show me an actual picture of the grip and it LOOKS identical to mine. The whole assembly slides onto the handlebars and screw #4 theads into a chrome collar on the inboard end and thats the end cap on the outboard end but no associated part number.

I got a reply back from RubberSideUp saying they don't have it.

Thanks for your help

Those are the grips that came stock on my 2000 LT. Back them the version of LT's with the chrome installed had these. I believe it was the LTC models.

Bingo! We have a winner!
Anyone have a set with dead heaters willing to part with the caps?

Thanks again for the help

Re: KLT grip cap

Although I've never seen them on a LT the parts fiche for the 1999 to 2001 USA models shows a left chrome grip part # 61317680535 for $138.78 & the right chrome grip part # 61317680536 for $159.06.

Re: KLT grip cap

Dave this could be.
But my Dealer here in Germany showed me on the Computer list that this are the grips out of the CL chromed package.
Is also right they are very expensive I payed for this set 160,- Euro.

Re: KLT grip cap

The cap is held on by a push-on washer. The cap itself has a post in the center and the only way to install a new (or old) cap is to have the complete heated hand grip off of the handlebar and press the washer onto the post down the center of the handgrip. I just replaced my 99 LTC throttle cables and my bike has these grips. Sorry, but I don't have any info. on where to get a new end cap if it isn't available from a dealer unless you can find one on e-bay.
