I had the same seat on mine - SUPER comfortable (for anyone looking). Loved that seat.

Re: Stuff for sale

About how much weight does the Cargo tray hold. For instance, can I safely strap down a 12 pack when I go for a beer run while at the rally???
Does transporting cargo block visibility of the license plate? Don't want a ticket while transporting the beer...

Thanks, Bob

I probably had about 60lbs on it when I rode out to Colorado, I put over 5500 miles on it. Here is a pic of how I packed the cargo tray. The bag on top of the container is just sitting there.

I would say that the plate was mostly covered on the trip out to CO.

The big brown box is a trip I took up to the Keweenaw, the plate was definitely covered on that trip.

The clear container was a trip I took down to the Iron Horse Lodge, it is a low profile container and the plate was mostly visible.

I know at least one guy with a similar tray took the plate off the bike and attached it to his container.

I have a Dauntless hitch and it Looks like a great option for additional cargo space. I'm just concerned about the whole license plate visibility factor...I'm a retired LEO.

Thanks for the response

No problem, the tray can certainly be used without covering up the plate, ie...small containers, coolers, sleeping bag, tent etc.....

I do understand your concern.

Re: Stuff for sale

David,

What are the heights of the two windscreens you have for sale? I'm curious about the height, as measured top to bottom, in the center of the screen.

Also: any photos showing the sport shield on the K1200LT?

Thanks.

Re: Stuff for sale

How about $300 for both screens?

I would use the sport shield in the mid summer and use the #2 in the spring/fall for more wind protection. Or if the SO was riding a long distance I would switch to the #2 so she could have more wind protection and a quieter ride.

If no interest I will move them over to the classifieds and quit bothering you all!!

This post got me thinking...
I have a cargo tray, custom fabricated by DMC SideCars, the same folks who fabricate the Dauntless hitch for the K1200LT.
I added a license plate holder and a set of lights so I didn't have to worry about the load on the tray blocking the license plate or the lights. The wiring for the light plug is a standard flat four terminal trailer hitch connector.

The tray is really rugged, not sure how much weight it will hold, but I suspect it will hold more than you'd want to put on it.

I last used it to carry a walker for a friend of mine who has Parkinson's. He used to ride, so I'd put him on back, bungee the walker to the cargo tray. He's no longer up to riding like that and I haven't used the cargo tray for a year or more.

It fits into the Dauntless hitch mount the same way the trailer hitch does. It slides into the tubes and pins into place.

I'll part with it for 250 bucks shipping included.
