Just picked up my 2000 1200LTC

Thanks everyone for the pointers and help over the last few weeks.

I found a 2000 with 50k miles and all the records (including replaced FD at 42k).

Picked it up in Lakeland, FL and am in a hotel in Crestview tonight (about 475 miles). It was a bit cold (38f) when I arrived, but fortunately I have my winter riding suit with me.

My first impression is "Wow". What a smooth running bike. I didn't get great fuel mileage (@35-38), but I didn't buy it for the fuel mileage.

Leaving tomorrow morning for the rest of the 1050 mile trip.

Thanks again, everyone.
Larry
The last thing the guy said to me was, "Take good care of it." That's a guy who cared for his bike.

You spent the night not far from my small part of the world. Print out the form, have the hotel clerk witness the odo, and knock out a Saddle Sore 1000. A perfect start to a long term LT relationship. Looks like clear weather to Texas, enjoy your ride.

Unfortunately, I chose to sleep last night, so I will not complete my 1,000 miles until 29 hours. 😴

Then you are well rested. The 24 hour clock doesn't start until the first receipt with a time/date/location stamp.

Or if you are flowering sniffing, get off if I-10 and travel west via US 84.

Travel safe,

Re: Just picked up my 2000 1200LTC

Maybe the confusion was from my first post. Today the trip is only 600. Yesterday was 475.

Have fun with that bike, I have a Y2K also and I love it, personally thing it is on of the best years of LTs.
So smooth, the miles will just melt away. You will enjoy it. Get to know it, get the plastics off and do as much as you can yourself in the way of upkeep and repairs. It will pay dividends down the road as well as save you lots of money.
Anyway, congrats, you got a great bike.

Congrats on your bike. I'm not too far from Katy (Columbus) if you need some help with future repairs. I also have a Y2K.
