Lights

I am looking at adding additional lights to the front of my bike. I have looked at the Motolights. Is this what others would suggest or is there something else out there? Any information would be great. How are they to install for those of you that have done them?
Thanks for any information that you send my way in advance.

I have the Hella FF50 driving lights, mounted under the mirrors. I get comments all the time of how bright they are in the daytime. After using them at night, I could not drive without them. You can get the lights and brkts. for around $100.00.

Tom,

First, HID is the very best way to go. Costs are way down and there is lots of info on this site for a self install.

The two most popular Aux lights seem to be the moto lights and the PIAA 1100X units mounted under the front cowl. In my opinion they both put out about the same light. Both can be self installed. You will need a torque wrench for the caliper mounts on the Moto lights.

The PIAA's are a cleaner install tucked up and away. The moto-lights on the caliper are a quality product with the advantage of lifetime bulb replacement. The PIAA bulbs are almost $50 ea. to replace.

I have the PIAA's. If I had it to do over I would get the Moto lights.

Mucho info on this topic available via the search feature.

Good luck

Motolights are good, as are PIAAs on Ezy-Mounts. I have both along with HID low and high beams on my LT, as I like to see and be seen. Here's what my setup looks like - http://www.davidkari.com/Finished_Front.jpg

I found Optilux H-3 lights at Susqehanna Motorsports internet store. Cost was $26 incluidng shipping. These were for my F650GS. They use a standard H3 bulb that costs abou $2.50. Originally, they came with 55w bulbs that I swapped out for 35w bulbs (due to limited alternator output on the 650). They are far better than the PIAAs on my LT. Both kits were equal in terms of wire and other parts.

Can anyone recommend a location/website for fair pricing for the PIAAs and MotoLights?

I have the Moto-Lites for years. They are very good at being seen, even in the daylight, but not much for providing driving light, except for turns.
