Help with integrating stereo to intercom system?

I have tried to integrate my stereo into my new IMC MIT-100 intercom system by tapping into the rear speaker wires with capacitors, isolation transformers and 3.5mm plug as shown in the diagram from Bob Weir.

I am having trouble in that the sound is crackling and fading in and out. I am not sure if I was supposed to remove the rear speakers from the equation or if I installed the Caps backwards, but would like some feedback so hopefully I can remedy this and enjoy music in the headsets rather than always blasting it from the front speakers.

Here is the schematic that Bob has posted in another thread to help someone. I assumed the capacitors would go with the positive (long lead) toward the transformer and the negative (short lead) toward the speakers. Assuming that is correct I don't think I did anything wrong unless the speakears should be taken out of the equation when using the headset?

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow

Didn't look at it too close buy why would you want to build something when you can just pick up one of these.. Looks like you might need non-polarized capacitors or something like that.. Here's what I found....

www.davidnavone.com I used his NE-7 adaptor. and connected it to the speaker wires at the stingray. Then went to an adapter cable from the RCA to the intercom...I adjusted the trim pots so that the volume was similar on the speakers and the headset in the garage. So going down the highway you won't blow your speakers and the headset will be plenty loud. Still works fine if you are not on the headset.

It was 19.95 and I didn't have to build anything.

Good luck

John

Sure now you come in with an easy plug and play.......but I'm invested now so I will try and make this work for a short time.
