Front tire 120/80B17 671V

The tire shop doesn't have the 120/70B17 58V for my LT.
It has the rear tire (160/70B17 M/C 79V REINF), but not the front.

Only a 120/80B17 61V.

Will this work?

Thanks!

The speed indexes are the same, and the replacement tire has a higher load index than the OE tire. The replacement tire will fit on the 17" rim of the LT. It also has the same width as the OE tire. The sectional height is however 12mm more, so it will be 24mm larger in diameter and will also raise the front forks by about 12mm, which means the steering rake increases slightly. I would guess the LT is sensitive to rake changes, so an increase may produce an unwanted result. Will it work? Perhaps, if there is sufficient clearance between the tire and the mudguard. Will I fit it to my LT? Probably not.

I would suggest waiting and either have the tire shop order the correct size of Metzler or Bridgestone, or you order it from one of the on-line stores, like Dennis Kirk. Problem with that approach is getting someone (like your tire shop now) to install an on-line store at a reasonable rate, as they like you to buy the tire from themÖ

If you have ABS it will mess it up, with the difference in tire sizes.

I've seen two LT's with that tire on them. It does clear the front fender by a little bit.

Thank you for your prompt responses.
yes, 24mm is a huge difference. Almost an inch.

I've never cheaped out on tires... just so darn hard to get them where I live (Nicaragua).

38% taxes, plus shipping and all that.

about $3 a pound to ship, and they weight 12 lbs for the front and 20 lbs for the rear.

I'll get the rear from Costa Rica, and order from my BMW shop or BikeBandit the front tire.

Thanks, you are correct. Better to stick with the suggested tire.

My LT has the famous wobble at <80 kph, so the taller tire will likely make it worse.

Thanks!
