gear shifter - help SOS

All,

I was shifting from 3rd to 4th and my gear shifter fell loose. I searched the forum and found that is due to the broken linkage. I am stuck enroute with my bike in 4th gear. Any thoughts on how I can get this home. Any temporary fix suggestion.

I am in NJ and very close to a Walmart on Rt 1 and can buy some hardware stuff if it would help.

Please help

Re: gear shifter - help SOS

Some were able to limp home by shifting to 3rd gear.
If you have the tools to remove the left side foot plate and change from 4th to 3rd...
If you are on a trip and want to go on you will need to remove the part that is broken; an easy out would help, but you will need a drill.
As far as getting replacement parts in short notice... may not be easy.
I preemptively replaced the linkage on my 03 and I still have the original at home in California that I could ship, but it will take days to get to you...
PM me if you want to go that route.

Re: gear shifter - help SOS

Thanks a ton for your help. I was able to move the gear into the 3rd and get back home.
I have also sent you a PM for the parts.
