Remus Exhaust street or racing

I just bought a k1200lt and wanted to know if the exhuast on this bike is a street can or Race can. I tried doing a google & forum search for remus, but found way too many.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Ian

At the end of the exhaust can, if there is a smaller diameter tube inside the larger diameter opening I believe it's a street can. SOmeone corrcet me if I'm wrong.

Hi Raffy;
Titanium
Type13 E4 00 or DD 98

The E4 was in boxes.

Also to jump subjects a little what chips are available. I know about Rhinewest, but how about the power commander III. Will these void warranties ?

I have the Remus street can w/ the Rhinewest. If you take a broom handle etc and it stops about 5-6" into the exit, you have the street can. If it goes all the way through, its the race can. You definitely DONT want the race can. The Remus street is loud enough. Also, you might want to look into the Black Hole exhaust for the LT. The header looks like it has better pipe length uniformity. As far as chips etc., I think Dynojet gave up on the PCIII for the LT. Too bad because I dont think the Rhinewest did jack for mine. I dynoed it and it was right at 83 RWHP with the pipe and chip. Bone stock #'s for a 2000. YMMV.

hmm

Well the handle went through about 11 to 12 inches.
So if I want to go and switch to the street can do I need a whole new kit ? Do I need to re-tune the darn thing. I can always play my Motorhead loooooooouder

depends on aluminum, titanium or carbon fibre. Pm if you want to discuss.

Got home and checked my street can. It went in about 9" from the case end, 11" or so from the tip exit, so a bit deeper than what I remember. You can shine a flashlight in there and if it looks like there is a plug in the middle right after the perforation ends, its street. If it goes straight through all the way like a glasspack, its the race. Sounds like you might already have the street. I called Remus to see if they have a quieter version of that mm opening and they dont. Just have to keep it reved up above 4K to kill the drone.

Here are some shots of an insert i made to quiet a REMUS street can.

Robs NO power & cuts the low rpm / roll on rumble by at least 25%

Do a search on REMUS & Motorhead as poster, you will find the detailed thread.

quiet

My SO had a problem with the Remus street silencer noise, so I asked on this list. The recommendation was to insert a 6" long piece of 1-1/4 stainless tubing into the end with some rv silicone to hold it. (thinest wall you can get)
This reduces the noise about 40% and doesn't appear to effect performance.

scotts fix really works well.
I was getting alot more noise because it echo'd under the trike body.
I was able to use an additional 2" (total 8") and cover the extended whimpy looking tube with a chrome tailpaipe extension .....
The result is very near stock sound....................

I totally forgot that I still had the baffles that came with my Remus Revolution carbons on my FJR. Just cut one of them down and they fit nicely. Would have been perfect if I could have used the existing screw braket, but it wouldnt fit. Still was able to drill/tap for a machine screw to hold it in. MUCH quieter. Thanks for the idea/reminder.

When I find some spare time, I will put tis on my bag of tricks to do later. I wonder if a crazy straw would work better. Seriously though thanks for the help.
