Smile K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

Finally took some time to dust the bike off, and begin disassembling as I could not find a replacement motor these past six months. Decided to sell everything piece by piece. Thinking: Parts being worth more than the whole.

Bike only had 2816 miles on it when engine cylinder seized due to valve being stuck. See photo. Estimate to fix at BMW Las Vegas was $10,600 ++. Bike was only worth $8,000. Go figure.

Goal is sell these pristine parts at reasonable pricing, and we can calculate the cheapest secured shipping since you are paying for it. Bottom line pricing. Tax free. See new uploads.

Items that come in pairs, like saddle bags etc... will be sold in pairs. If you only need one item, then priced at 75% of the dealer's price and no tax. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. I travel a lot, so allow a few days for a reply. Hope I can help you out.

Re: K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

Sorry to hear of your blown motor.

I've had to part out a few different late model motorcycles in the last few years myself, I hate to say it but it's a tough job, and you're left with some major components, never sold, I still have boxes of stuff that just never sold. And in all honesty, normally, you never recoup your loss.

Have you contacted; Bill Becker of Becker Moto Works in Apple Valley California? He has spent a good many years rebuilding the K1200 motors, and is quite proficent in their repair and had lots of parts, plus there is a good possibility that he may know of a decent motor hiding somewhere.

Just a thought. Best of luck moving forward...

Re: K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

I've been looking for a used panel that goes over the crash bars butting against the tupperware on the bike. The black crash bar covers are then installed. This is for the brake peddle side, right hand side. Also, like a few others the black metal arm that attaches to a pivot pin on the black plastic frame the windshield motor is attached to, with the arm's other end attached to the bracket the windhield is attached to.

Anybody know if the rear shock on an '05 will work on a 2000?
Front shock part numbers are the same or both years.
Rears are different.

How did a 2005 only have 2816 miles on it, without the failure being in the warranty period?

The whole back story was covered in this threadhttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87897

It was so rough the moderators had to close the thread. It's too bad he has started dissasembling it, if it's cherry I might be interested in the whole thing depending on price, probably be worth a couple grand to fix with some elbow grease. Oh well, I hope it works out for the guy.

Yes, but I was thinking 2,816 miles should have been achieved in well under 3 years. Most of us would do that in a month or two.

Re: K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

As in the thread that was shut down by the mods, this one seems to be going nowhere.

No response to PMs or email.

Maybe we should start calling the telephone number on the paperwork shown, but it could be someone else's number and that would not be cool.

Anyone happen to look at the location metadata in the photos, and does it coincide with the claimed location of the "seller" and the bike?

I think he is rude to post the sale of parts, and not check in on this forum.

So what if he travels, he is one link away from this site with a smart phone.

A week ago I would have agreed with you, Howard, but nine days later and not a whisper? Couple this with his other post on the same topic that was apparently so full of BS that the mods shut it down and it seems we have a true troll in our midst.

Re: K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

No reply here either.

As I unhappily discovered riding xcountry, not every hoetl/motel has a computer that "guests" can use. Before booking a room I always made sure the place had a computer I could use by reading the description of the place on the internet.

Evry morning before leaving I used the place's computer and internet connection to hunt for a place to stay that night.

The first BIG problem I encountered was turning on a hotel/motel's computer and discovered it was dialing out!! Talk about sloooooooooow!! It wasn't didn't make a connection. When I noticed the date it was off by 5 years!! When I asked a person behind the check in desk the explained she didn't know anything about computers. But the owner had recently bought that used computer system!! After a little cajoling the office manager let me use his computer.

Next BIG problem was when I was checking out and asked where the computer for guest use was? did NOT have one!! I pointed out this hotel listed having a computer and was told they have free wifi but i have to provide the computer to use it. I wound up finding a public library, getting a library card and getting on the internet that way--wasted around 3 hours.

Recently I took an overnight trip to Phoenix from Tucson and booked a room at a hotel listing restaurant with in it. When I checked in, after driving by a sign on the outside of the building saying restaurant, I was told it had shut down 3 years ago!!

I noticed a hotel I had recently stayed at that did not have a restaurant had one listed? SO, this time I tried to verify it was still there by calling them. NOPE!! they had just been acquired but didn't have a liquor license, so they didn't open the restaurant. That was over a year ago but they do not have a restaurant even thought the hotel still lists as having one!!

SO.......if there is something important I want in a place where I will stay, I call them and verify!!

Huuum?? While I think of it, the places my Garmin 665 list for food in a town where I stay are useless!! sometimes 2-5 years out of date!! One time I was looking for gas, nearest place indicated was 15-20 miles away. 5 miles later at an intersection with a traffic lite, I looked across the 4 lane road and discovered a gas station with a large general store.

when I was in Maine mu new 665 had wrong information where the 3 year Walmart was located! While riding back to Maine from MAXBMW in NH, I took back roads and decided to hit a state liquor store in Maine. I wound up going around and around for 30 minutes trying to find it. stopped and asked where it was cause I couldn't find it and was told they moved it 4 years ago.

Re: K1200LT 2005 ALL PARTS FOR SALE

I pays to have a GPS with updated maps (unlike my Nav III system that apparently cannot be updated). When I travel, I carry my laptop and smartphone. Before Verizon got wise, I used the phone as a wifi hot spot with my unlimited data package. They have since shut down my PDA.Net application so I have to use a hotel's wifi (or find a Starbucks in podunkville). Therefore, even though the OP is on the road a lot… there should be no reason for him to not respond to your PMs, as he has seems to have presented himself as a moneyed world traveller so he should be able to afford a smartphone…

Some people on this web site have some serious trust issues. Can't a person travel?

back now from Philippines, Hong Kong and Tokyo. I challenge anyone who thinks otherwise to put up some serious money and I will provide the passport stamps and air boarding passes!

Enough.

All I am interested in doing is selling some parts. Tp the dummy who doesn't take the time to read why it wasn't covered under warranty. Better not need any parts as they are NOT foe SALE to you at any price.

If you are a serious person and need some parts, more than willing to assist. Those of you with less than two cents - pun intended - keep your money. You might need it.

Sure....why not pay $1.89 Verizon or more a minute just to sell some parts. Especially since I don't need the $. It was fun just taking this bike apart.

Go to my albums, or wherever this web site uploads my photos and c for yourself.

Yes, anyone who would deal with someone as self-centered as this person is taking a big risk. I'd want to part before I sent any money. Otherwise, he might just decide you could wait a few months until he gets back from his next jaunt. As always, caveat emptor!
