Put the big girl back together

Put the big girl back together and put some gas in the tank and started it briefly. all the lights worked the radio is working seemed to run fine. The low gas light is on. But I noticed the gas gauge and the temp gauge were not showing. Is this normal? I changed the coolant and replaced the outside gas lines and quick connects...

Re: Put the big girl back together

coolant temp takes a while to come up, at least 5 minutes, make sure you have no air locks in the system, If the low gas light is on then the gauge will read pretty low if at all, or you didn't plug the connector on the top of the tank next to the filler hole, under the the stingray

Re: Put the big girl back together

how do you check for air lock? Wouldn't the low gas light only work if gas sensor is plugged in? I tried John Zs screw driver in the cross hose trick to burp while refilling

Re: Put the big girl back together

as long as you have coolant in the overflow bottle you should be fine, just use your hand to monitor rad temp at top when she is running, it will start to warm up, hoses will warm pretty quick, not hot warm, I always run the bike with the cap off until I feel the fluid getting warm and it stays at the bottom of the filler, do not rev the engine with cap off or there will be antifreeze everywhere. Coolant gets warm pretty quick on all these newer motors. With the cap on once she gets hot enough to turn the fans on expansion will force some fluid into expansion bottle and any small amount of air will go with it, fluid gets sucked back when she cools

at 32 degrees F my cylinder head, not valve cover, is warm to touch in 90 seconds, she warms up fast not like the K100 and K1100 which take quite awhile.
