Want to learn

I am based in northern NJ and just got a 00 LT. I have done some basic oil changes on a Honda Shadow, but this is way too overwhelming. I wanted to check if I can offer help to someone who can teach me the basic maintenance and fluid changes that would be required. Willing to pay in cash or kind.

Re: Want to learn

Here is a link to videos done by the Pres of the Illinois LT club. He has great videos on about anything you want to do to your LT. It's daunting at first, but will come to you when you have done it a couple of times. Other things also, not just an oil change.

You will love the bike if you don't already. I have a '99, the first year they were made, and about 10 months ago, found a nice '07 that I mostly ride. But still ride the '99 a 3-4 rides a month.

Congrats on the bike, Wix makes good filters for the LT and Mobile 1 seems to pour right into the bike for me.

Always keep it in 1st gear at lights and watch your rear view mirrors, always park in 1st gear on level or slightly uphill when you can. I learned that the hard way and parked in neutral going downhill just a tad. Getting off the bike somehow made it roll forward, and wala... the big girl took a nap. I'm old and she's heavy so it was a chore getting her up.

Just a bit of advise. Take care.

Re: Want to learn

Thanks Tommy. This was very helpful. I learned the parking on slope in a a not so hard way :-) had a couple of friends who helped pull the bike back..

Re: Want to learn

I think there's a video on how to pick up the LT. You put you back to the bike. Works well. Watch where you put your feet at a stop. I put my foot down on a stick which rolled and that was all it took...
