Unhappy The LT has been gathering cobwebs

Might have put 200 miles on the odometer this year . Over 10 weeks on the road, for work, so far this year has really hurt seat time and now a medical issue has cropped up that will take me some time to get used to as it isn't "fixable".

Back in 1988, I was strapping a load on my pickup with bundgy cords, one broke and hit me square in the right eye. The incident cost me a week in the hospital, tore the pupil and I ended up with a traumatic cataract that was addresses with surgery.

Fast forward to now, I woke up a few weeks ago to find out that I could barely see out of my right eye. Went to a retinal specialist and found out that due to the injury, I developed traumatic glaucoma that has permanently damaged the optic nerve.

My depth perception is way off and on a quick ride to the forest the other day, I had a hard time in the twisties.

Gonna take some time to get used to this before I get back on. Hoping to over come, don't want to give up riding.

All I could think of as I started to read this was "I only have one eye in the middle of my forehead and eat raw meat and gunpowder".

Seriously though, I ride with a one-eyed (one horned.....) and he does real well. I think you'll be back in the saddle soon enough. Best of luck on your process though.

Re: The LT has been gathering cobwebs

I've a buddy lost an eye to a champagne cork. If you ask him which eye he lost, he has to wink to remember which one works. The mind will accommodate the loss pretty quickly and you'll be riding again soon. My buddy has even done the motorcycle racing course at LagunaSeca with no (vision) problems. Good luck! Don't give up.
