Radio question

After looking through the different radio replacement threads, I have a simple question....does the BMW 3 series radio work on a K1200LT? I know the wiring harness works if you are adding an aftermarket radio but does the actual car radio work on the bike?

Re: Radio question

I don't recall anyone doing that here. It does have the same back connector so it could work but there is no connection to the stock controller on the LT. You would have to open the oddiments box lid to change stations and adjust volume.

Re: Radio question

I have thought about that too, but I think the 3-series radio is usually in the dash, I was thinking about using a radio from a E38 or E39 base model 5 or 7-series they have the radio in the dash. Those cars have the radio in the trunk and can be found for cheap.

one like this;
Ebay link

I guess they did come in 3-series cars also but only the ones equipped with navigation. Also X5s and could be found cheaper than this at local junkyards.

Re: Radio question

That could work as the controller on the LT feeds the remotes and the big connector on the back. I would give it a go.
