Speaker housing repair? Anyone?

While on our latest trip, we got caught in two hail storms in Colorado. During one of the downpours, the two speaker pods/housings on the top box suffered hail damage in the form of rather cool looking little curly cue cracks. Anyone ever had this happen and found a good way to repair/seal the cracks to keep water for rotting the pod away from the inside out? I was going to try black silicon forced down into the cracks. Any other ideas? Don't really want to replace them just yet, just looking for an inexpensive fix for the time being.

If a repair doesn't work, I have a set from a 2003 with no tears. Make me low ball offer?

Re: Speaker housing repair? Anyone?

I would try a vinyl upholstery repair kit, should be available at any local auto parts store, hey, it might work. If it doesn't I can't imagine recovering with new vinyl would be too tough, you'd just have to buy some thin and pliable stuff, not that heavy duty marine vinyl. The way that they tore indicates to me that the vinyl on there has had it and will likely start to give up the ghost in the not to distant future so maybe a recover is the right solution for the long haul.

Gaffer tape for a temporary, cheap, nasty looking repair or ebay for something more permanent (replacements)
Lowell's offer sounds pretty good……
