CENTERSTAND 08 LT

Got the Lt out yesterday after waiting for showers to pass, had to shut the shed door, and centerstand inoperable. I was messng with the sidestand earlier, wondering if the switch on sidestand is sticky, causing fault code for centerstand operation.

Bike running, in neutral, no brakes applied, getting fault code on dash...

Can I test sidewsitch by bypassing it to eliminate that switch for diagnostic purposes?? Thanks, Donn

Re: CENTERSTAND 08 LT

What are you getting for a "fault" symbol on the dash. The lightening bolt is low voltage, hourglass is overload (but this usually only shows up following repeated lifts) or the "call" symbol which means one of the interlocks is tripped (could be the side stand switch).

In all cases the EHCS symbol light will flash 2 Hz normal, 4 Hz fault.

That would be the "call" symbol described in the manual (I couldn't remember what it looked like). That means either the bike is in gear (or thinks it is), the brakes are applied (or a brake switch is stuck but you would hear the servos) or the side stand switch is buggered. Or the F-R switch is not fully into F. Worth a recheck of the side stand switch if everything else checks out.

Re: CENTERSTAND 08 LT

John, got home from work yesterday, took the LT and ran some errands, stopped to show off the bike to a friend, and the Centerstand now works.

Go Figure.....Oh Well, glad it decided to work.

Thanks for Your input, much appreciated.

Happy Trails, Donn

Re: CENTERSTAND 08 LT

It's possible the bike was thinking it wasn't on level ground when it wouldn't work OR the hydraulic center stand actuator might be going out. (unfortunately I know this from experience)
