Heated Seat not Working

With temperatures dropping in London I turned on my heated seat (2010 K13GT) for the first time the other day and . . . . nothing! It appears in the display as 'on' but no heat

I've checked the connector - seems OK, any suggestions as to where I should look next?

I have a voltmeter so was going to see if the seat is getting power - anyone know what should be there when its on?

Finally anyone know if the seat a covered under the extended warranty?

Thanks

Doug

Re: Heated Seat not Working

If you have stock heated seats is the rear also out?

For your front, check voltage at the seat connector. If you've got some its probably the seat though I've got to say that such failures are uncommon to rare AFAIK. If you've got none, switch is the suspect. The older style switches are better than current but have been know to fail sometimes. Checking it is a matter of checking to be sure it has power in- and if nothing is going to the seat you've likely found the problem. There is always a chance of a broken wire so do your switch checks at the switch.

check the fuse for the heater located under the seat.
Extended warranties vary from provider to provide so check the fine print of your policy.

Mines the same Doug, my GS911 shows open circuit for the riders seat. From my tests with the meter it seems the current is sent to the seat as pulses by the bike, when the seat heater is set to high the bike makes the pulses faster and when set to the lower setting the pulses are slower.

The seats as far as I'm aware are not covered by the ext warranty, neither is the switchgear
