Need both tires,, anything impressive out there ?

I have been running the Metzler M 88 Marathon rear and the Metzeler Roadtec Z on the front. I have just a little over 7 k on the pair and will be needing to replace them in the next 1k. Having problems finding the Metzeler Marathons. So who's riding something they really like.. thanks

My faves have been Avon Storm 2 Ultras however, I've heard nothing but praise for Michelin Pilot road 3's . They're dearer but I'm hearing of several reports of 8 to 10 thousand miles life were the Avons are 4 to 5 thousand so as a long term investment they sound great.

Grip wise I believe they're awesome, one friend reported getting a knee down in the wet!

Replaced my Metzler Roadtec's with Michelin Pilot 3's, so far so good. The tread pattern looks extreme.

Now have +/-8,000 miles on my PR3's on a K1300GT, and still not a mark on them. I like the ride and wet traction is also great.
Nothing but praise so far!!!

Last year I picked up a pair of pirelli angel ST's. Got decent performance out of them, and word on the street was you could get 15,000 miles out of them. I bought a new bike 6 months later so I can't comment on longevity. But I was happy with them.

I'm on my 5th or 6th set of PR3s. I won't put anything else on my GT. They are good in just about any type of condition.

Re: Need both tires,, anything impressive out there ?

In the next few days I plan on putting on a set of PR3s on my 1150rt. The last two tire changes I installed PR2s on the same bike. The PR2s gave me 15,000 miles each so if the PR3s can give me the same or better mileage I'll be happy.

Be aware that if needed there is a added 'type' of tire available, It has a "B" rating for heavier loads such as two up with luggage.

I have Michelin Road Pilot 3 Rear 180/55ZR-17 B
Only have 4500 miles on it currently but it looks brand new still.

Re: Need both tires,, anything impressive out there ?

I'm needing tires for my k1100lt as well. I called the BMW motorcycle dealership and they pointed me to the Michelin Pilot Active, he told me that they had a really hard sidewall in case of a flat and that they were a great tire wet or dry.

Re: Need both tires,, anything impressive out there ?

I like to try different tires, but often install Pilot Road 2s because I keep finding them at great prices.

Michelin is coming out with the Pilot Road 4 soon. They claim better braking and longer wear compared with the Pilot Road 3. See:
